The Value of Listing with Lyman-Morse Brokerage

A conversation with the Eric Roos, manager of the Brokerage division, on the benefits of listing your boat with Lyman-Morse.

When it comes time to sell your boat, there are several options available. You can list with one of the big online brokers, ask the folks at your local boatyard, or put the boat in your front yard with a “For Sale” sign on it. But if you prefer to work with some of the most specialized brokers in the industry, then we recommend you call the folks at the Lyman-Morse Brokerage.

“When it comes to the members of the Lyman-Morse brokerage team, all of us have solid experience with some of the highest caliber brands in the industry,” Eric says. “And that differentiates us. Our team members have differing backgrounds, and that is one of our strengths. One of our brokers was in the service division for Lyman-Morse, he’s been with the company for 20 years, so he offers a perspective that is pretty technical when people are concerned about what something will cost or repair. Our newest broker has done extensive sailing on catamarans, which are appealing in the market currently, so he brings the credibility of having been on sizeable catamarans cruising, and then I spent decades working as a broker for some of the top boatbuilders in the country. So, it’s kind of nice, we’re not all cut from the same cloth. It’s a good well-rounded group of mariners.”

Now, it goes without saying that when you’re selling boats, it helps to know boats. And the Lyman-Morse Brokerage team’s deep knowledge of the boats they work with helps to set them apart from the competition. When you’re working with Lyman-Morse, you’re working with brokers that not only have a deep knowledge of the boats they’re working with, but they also have a passion for ensuring that the right people are paired with the right boat.

“We’re not just familiar with these boats, we typically know them inside and out,” Eric says. “So, we’re not just reading from a listing and spouting off specifications and details. We have a story behind every boat, and that not only helps build credibility, but it makes it so you’re actually there to help.”

Another benefit of working with Lyman-Morse is that thanks to the deep knowledge of their staff, they know how to get the most out of your boat. “We have a reputation for working with high-quality boats with beautiful fit and finish,” Eric says. “And really, to have a successful transaction, the boats need to be in very good condition. If it needs work, we’ll work with the owner and tell them what improvements they can make to the boat, or what they should do to facilitate the sale. Things like hiring a surveyor before you have a buyer, and seeing what issues there might be. If there are issues, that’s something you’d rather know about up front, instead of having the deal fall apart because of it down the road.”
