Lyman-Morse Adds to Executive Leadership Team

CAMDEN and THOMASTON — Lyman-Morse has made three strategic additions to its leadership team, according to the boatbuilder, in a news release.

“These new hires, based at the company’s modern facilities in Thomaston and Camden, Maine, are essential to the company’s recent and ambitious growth plans,” said Lyman-Morse.

The boatbuilder that has expanded into Advanced Composites, Fabrication and Technologies in recent years. 

“These strategic hires represent Lyman-Morse’s dedication to assembling the best team to drive our continued success,” said Drew Lyman, President of Lyman-Morse. “Each of these leaders brings unique experience and vision that will strengthen our company and reinforce our reputation as an industry leader.” 

Ron Lone – Vice President of Marine Operations

To manage its growing marine business, Lyman-Morse has established a new Marine Group, encompassing boatbuilding, yacht services, work boats, brokerage, and marina businesses in Camden and Thomaston. Ron Lone has been appointed Vice President of Marine Operations to lead these initiatives. Lone brings decades of experience, most recently serving as COO of a private investment company specializing in private aviation, airport services, and fuel recycling and refining. Before that, he had a distinguished 25-year career as a partner in a business law firm with offices across the U.S. A lifelong boater who spent years sailing the waters of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and the Canadian Gulf Islands, Lone and his wife relocated to Camden from Seattle in June 2024.

Pete Orne – Chief Financial Officer

Pete Orne joins Lyman-Morse as Chief Financial Officer, where he will oversee financial operations, human resources, risk management, technology, and facilities across all divisions. With over 30 years’ experience in finance ranging from a Derivatives and Stock Specialist on the American Stock Exchange, as contract CFO for Swans Island Blankets, conducting business assessments for the Maine Venture Fund, and most recently as CFO/COO for 2 local school systems. Additionally, Orne owned and operated Aegis Bicycles, a carbon fiber bicycle manufacturer, and has deep roots in the Midcoast Maine region. He holds a BA in Economics from Kenyon College and an MS in Forensic Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. A committed community leader, he currently serves on the Camden Budget Committee, is the Board Treasurer for Maine School of Science and Math, and is Treasurer of the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum in Rockland. Orne lives in Camden with his wife, Charlene, and two of their four children.

Mark Higgins – General Manager of Camden Operations

Joining the company’s revitalized working waterfront operation in Camden, Mark Higgins will serve as the General Manager of Camden Operations. Higgins brings more than 30 years of experience in the marine industry. A Maine Maritime Academy graduate with a degree in Marine Engineering Technology, Higgins has held leadership roles at General Dynamics, American Overseas Marine, Edison Chouest Offshore, Tidewater Marine International, and the Maine State Ferry Service. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Steamship Authority, overseeing marine and shoreside departments, engineering, and facilities. This expertise will be instrumental in enhancing operations at the Camden facility.
