Summary

C. Raymond Hunt designed our 54′ twin jet express cruiser for owners with impeccable taste. With a cruising speed of 30 knots, the Hunt 54 Express Jet is a fine representation of the craftsmanship for which Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding is recognized.  Not only does she boast the finest in interior detailing, she also features advanced mechanical systems. Perhaps one of the most exciting features is her dinghy “garage” that includes a hydraulic gate and sled which extend out over the jets to allow the owner to launch the 10′ tender from the interior storage compartment with the push of a button.

Whistler, hull No. 1 of the Hunt 54 Jet Express Cruiser, is powered by twin 1001 hp Caterpillar C-18s coupled with Hamilton HJ403 water-jets.

The control for the hydraulic garage is on the side of the starboard steps and the fresh water hot / cold hand-held shower are on the side of the port steps.

The garage is 39″ in height by 6′ wide and 13′ deep. The door opens aft and then articulates up, allowing for the tender to be automatically pulled in and pulled out of the garage. A fire extinguisher and fresh and saltwater wash-downs are at the ready as needed.

COCKPIT

This teak deck extends fore and aft 6 feet and port-to-starboard 13’8″. The cockpit cushioned aft bench seats four comfortably with a composite top dining table. The aft-facing portside bench seats two and has a storage compartment for cleaning supplies. The starboard side features a grille with custom stainless top and ice maker.

The cockpit deck features three large locking hatches to provide access to the garage and the port and starboard side exhaust, tankage, bike storage, and miscellaneous supplies.

There are two carbon fiber port and starboard awning poles that allow the custom sun canvas to be extended aft over all cockpit seating.

HULL AND DECK

WHISTLER has a Kingston Gray AWL-GRIP hull with a Graystone AWL-GRIP and Off-White AWL-GRIP coach combination.

The sidedeck going forward is AWL-GRIP non-skid 16″ at its narrowest and has surface lighting. The recessed handhold rail and secure boat hook storage are found above recessed and under the curved-down cabin-top.

The aft and forward dock-line tie-ins are handled by 12″ cleats and the spring-line mid-ship cleats are 10″ cleats. All-around safety is provided by custom 1″ polished stainless steel guardrails that are 25″ above the 8″ gunnels for maximum safety.

The foredeck is well-spaced and well thought-out. The MAXWELL 2500 windlass handles the 100′ feet of 3/8 chain and 200′ of nylon rode. The two below-deck secured hatches have ample storage for fenders, spare anchor, wash down hoses for the fresh water and salt water hook-ups.

SALON CABIN TOP

The clean low-profile fixtures on this cabin top provide a well-balanced look that aides servicing and function. The antenna mast is 45″ off the deck by 39″ wide and holds masthead light, anchor light, 2- VHF antenna’s, a SIRIUS Galaxy antenna, RAYMARINE R5150 antenna’s and the 50″ open array RAYMARINE radar. Flat mounted on the hard-top are the ACR EPIRB, 4-person VIKING life raft, 2-20″ trumpet horns, loudhailer, dual-beam auto spotlight, port and starboard running lights and two satellite domes.

There are two evenly spaced 25″ square tinted air inlet hatches that are easily adjusted from inside the cabin’s navigator and helm stations.

SALON

The threshold entry through the sliding IMRON painted stainless steel door and a 4″ step down lands you onto beautiful 3″ wide maple cabin sole with a standing height of 6’8″.
