Bruckmann 50 Sweet Return II is one of the newest and most sophisticated of the Mark Ellis/Bruckmann 50s to come available on the brokerage market. Furthermore, she has been kept in a fashion that the terminology “Like New!” is not a stretch.

Sweet Return II, built in 2008, is one of those rare offerings where, if you like her as she is described on paper, you are destined to love her in person.

Being the Mark II version of these unique and special sailing motorsailers, the Bruckmann 50 Sweet Return II shares all of the acclaimed attributes of earlier sisters but offers added speed under power, compliments of her 200 hp John Deere and elongated hull form, which incorporates the swim platform.

Offered for sale due to the owner’s inability to use her as planned, the price is now reduced to bargain territory, as they want her sold now.

The interior is finished in the classic Herreshoff style, with lovely gloss-varnished mahogany joinery detail and trim, contrasting white bulkheads, and overhead panels. Cabin soles are varnished teak and mahogany, and hardware is polished stainless steel. There is an abundance of natural light and plenty of storage space throughout.

Owner’s Cabin

The owner’s cabin, forward, has a large queen V-shaped berth with a custom Portland Boat mattress and large mahogany drawers on front face. Generous storage throughout in built-in chest of drawers with louvered hanging locker to port. An overhead dome plus four directional reading lights provide light, while two large opening hatches, an opening port, and two Hella fans provide natural light and ventilation.

Guest Cabin

Moving aft, the guest cabin is to starboard, with double berth, hanging locker, night stand and additional storage lockers above/outboard and beneath the berth. An overhead dome and reading lights, two opening ports, an overhead hatch, as well as a Hella fan provide good light and ventilation.

The guest and Owner’s heads, separated by a stall shower, are found opposite the guest cabin along the port side. Both are equipped with stainless steel sinks, Corian counters, and Vacuflush heads.

Galley and Library Lounge

Midships there is an open-air virtual vestibule, flanked by a truly generous U-shaped galley to port and the vessel’s unique den/library to starboard. Natural light and the sense of openness come from the pilothouse windows above. The efficient galley layout features an abundance of storage (including a centerline pantry-style cabinet), along with all of the accoutrements associated with gourmet cooking and entertaining.

The unique library/den is a very versatile area, with a convertible settee upholstered in Camel Ultrasuede for added sleeping accommodations, as well as bookshelves, storage lockers/drawers, a flat-screen TV, Blu-ray player, stereo, and separate washer and dryer hidden behind matching louvered cabinet doors. It’s the perfect place to read or watch a movie. Truly special.
