Layout & Design
When you come down the companionway, slightly offset to starboard, you are treated to a breathtaking view. Lyman-Morse’s renowned craftsmanship shines in Alert’s teak interior. There is a warm feeling below featuring a Herreshoff style of white and varnished surfaces with the perfect balance of warmth and light. The 6’6” headroom in the salon and galley is impressive.
With two enclosed cabins Alert easily sleeps 7, with two in each of the enclosed cabins and three more in the ultrasuede covered salon settees and pilot berth to starboard. The layout makes excellent use of the space and well placed hand rails offer secure passage throughout the cabins. The large head is easily accessed midships on the port side. The two cabins consist of a V-berth forward and a large quarter berth on the port side aft. The sole is a traditional teak and holly finished bright. The nav station and galley are positioned well to provide easy access to the companionway and cockpit. Dorades provide excellent ventilation throughout the boat and Hella fans offer supplemental circulation as needed.
Olin Stephens hit a home run with this layout and the quality and finish of Lyman-Morse rings true throughout.
