Summary
This past winter, Odalisque underwent a comprehensive refit that included structural, mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic upgrades.
The aluminum hull was repaired where corrosion was identified, then faired, prepped, and repainted. The boot stripe was also lowered. Both the main and mizzen masts were completely disassembled for refinishing. Corrosion areas were repaired, and the masts were faired, prepped, and repainted before being reassembled with new hardware, components, and replacement wiring and cabling where possible. A new rod rigging package was installed, and all hydraulic cylinders, furler motors, and stays were rebuilt.
Navigation, communication, and lighting systems were upgraded throughout the vessel. New color-adjustable uplighting was added to all spreaders, and OEM Aquasignal Series 55 navigation light fixtures with LED bulbs were installed on both masts and the deck. The vessel’s Starlink system was upgraded to Gen 3, additional Wi-Fi hotspots were added to the onboard network, and new autopilot, AIS, and radar systems were installed along with upgraded displays at the navigation station and captain’s cabin.
Mechanical work included a full service and rebuild of the main diesel engine by Gardner Marine, a full service and partial rebuild of the Hundested propulsion system, and a full service of the main generator, including replacement of the clutch and coupler.
Interior and exterior improvements included a new upholstery package throughout the vessel. The helm wheel and pedestal were stripped, refinished with gold leaf “ODALISQUE” lettering, and coated with 14 coats of Epifanes gloss varnish.
