Summary

Made from state-of-the-art carbon fiber composite materials, Moonwave, a Gunboat 60 catamaran, was designed with excellent sailing performance and luxurious accommodations in mind. She sails on two hulls with hardly any heel, which is important for the comfort and safety of her passengers.

At the same time, she’s capable of blistering speeds, because she has no heavy lead keel, very little wetted surface area (aka drag) and a powerful sail plan. She’s fast and fun in a breeze, but she also makes good time when the wind is light and other boats have to run the engine.

Team Lyman-Morse hauled the 68′, 38,000-pound Moonwave on August 21, 2015, at the Thomaston facility. The fine Gunboat yacht was here for routine maintenance and composite rigging and appendages upgrades, plus hydraulic system and steering refinements.

Moonwave returned to us in 2018, spending time at Lyman-Morse at Wayfarer in Camden, so that our service team could perform some more work on this fine yacht.

As everyone knows, we love multi-hulls: Mala Conducta, launched in 2009, was one of our favorite builds. So we understand why this yachting category continues to gain traction.
