Summary
HOUND, a 59′ K. Aage Nielsen Sloop is a boat we know very well and have performed several refits on. Back in 2013, Lyman-Morse repaired aluminum plates on both the starboard and port sides of the hull. With surgeon-like precision, we removed the 4-by-8-foot sections and replaced them with new plates. “We faired them to the hull, then primed and painted the surface to a finish that no one will know we were there” says Lyman-Morse’s Service Manager at the time.
Most recently, in 2021-2022 Hound came back to the yard to undergo some performance upgrades. This included a keel replacement, metal work on her hull, hydraulic work, rigging work including a new mast, and more. This work proved to be worth while as HOUND made her way to the top of the podium in the 2023 RORC Caribbean 600 winning by 24 minutes on corrected time. Congratulations Hound!
