Lyman-Morse’s broad-ranging capabilities are showcased not only by the skilled people who work here, but also by our modern and expansive facilities. Encompassing 20 acres across our Thomaston and Camden properties, our facilities can handle any project, large or small. Our state-of-the-art boatbuilding facility in Thomaston includes a temperature-controlled, energy-efficient, 140′ x 160′ “green” building specially designed for large yacht construction, storage, and service. In Camden, our campus of inside storage buildings allows our crew to coordinate routine maintenance, winter storage, and large-scale refit projects efficiently and affordably.

Metal Fabrication: Our modern, 15,000-square-foot fabrication shop is housed in a 85′ x 150′ building with radiant-floor heating, air-cleaners, and proper illumination for any project. Equipment includes a Hypertherm XPR300 plasma cutter, one of the most sophisticated such cutters in Maine, and myriad benders, presses, shears, and other machinery.

Advanced Composites: Lyman-Morse has always been a leader in the use of new technology and materials, and since 1995 we have built all of our hulls using either the SCRIMP resin infusion process or pre-impregnated composite systems. Our crews have extensive experience with carbon fiber, Kevlar, and E-glass systems.

Rigging Shop: Our full-time riggers in both Thomaston and Camden can solve any problem or task that your yacht requires, from a straightforward mast-stepping to a complete re-rig. On-site cranes allow our crews to easily pull, inspect, and install rigs of all sizes, ensuring that your yacht is operating perfectly and safely.

Canvas Shop: Our team of skilled fabricators are on-site, allowing them to work with owners to assist with the design, construction, installation, repair and maintenance of any canvas fabrication project.

Paint and Varnish Shop: Dedicated paint bays, including a special high-ceiling 100′ x 30′ paint bay, allows our coatings crew to perform flawless work quickly, efficiently, and in an environmentally friendly manner. From stunning varnish work on furniture and joinery to high-gloss, durable paint jobs on masts and booms, our paint and varnish teams turn even the most challenging projects into works of art.

Cabinet Shop: We have based a lot of our reputation on our extremely fine cabinet work inside our boats. We design and build almost any type of woodwork, whether a modern (European) look or a traditional interior that dates all the way back to the Herreshoff style.
