Summary

Gizmo really lives up to its name.  While the Duffy 37 hull is highly respected as a comfortable sea worthy boat, the current owner has used it as testing platform for all types of electronic, systems, and electrical equipment since he purchased her in 2009.  Over the years Gizmo has been outfitted with the highest level of navigation, operation and monitoring system in our industry.  After retirement the owner honed the systems to only leave the best and most functional tested.  Now Gizmo is a refined vessel for the next steward ready to cruise up or down the coast.

We have extensive records of all the work that has gone into this remarkable vessel.  Here are some of the highlights of the owners work:

  • 400 amp hour LiFePO4 house battery bank with Lynx BMS, Multiplus Inverter/Charger, & Cerbo GX monitoring, all Victron & new 2022 with 280W solar panels & almost all-LED lighting, Gizmo is largely self-sufficient at anchor, with fast dual-alternator charging when needed.
  • Furuno TZT2 12 multifunction display (2016) on flybridge with NXT radar and fishfinding networked to Intel NUC PC (2020) running TimeZero Navigator at lower helm, and synchronized with included boat iPad running TZ iBoat (and various other boat apps).
  • Dual NMEA 2000 sensor networks and multiple Furuno and Maretron instrument displays for extensive system monitoring plus redundant critical navigation data. Plus redundant Simrad GO5 chartplotter with side-scanning sonar and AP controls.
  • Local Netgear WiFi router with Wave WiFi high-power bridge for marina access points, plus Cel-Fi high-performance cell booster. Starlink or similar could be easily added.
  • The boat PC drives dual displays, a 15.6-inch touch screen (2020) at the helm and 26-inch Vizio TV/monitor (2011) normally hidden in the chart table. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse work at either station, and also with iPad and a third device of your choice.
  • Garmin Cortex (2021) advanced VHF & AIS transponder (with cellular off-boat monitoring) and Standard Horizon GX2400 VHF & AISrx (2024), both at lower helm and latter with RAM4X wireless mic for flybridge or elsewhere.
  • And much more

The owner has cruised up and down the East Coast single handed into the Carolinas.  The Spencer Lincoln design and robust systems made for a safe and relaxing journey.
