Building With Lyman-Morse. The creative process begins with the
client's ideas and specifications for the ultimate boat. Some owners may have already
initiated design work with a marine architect or designer to help visualize that dream. Other owners prefer the advantages of selecting the builder first
in order to reserve production scheduling, lock-in a delivery date, evaluate the latest
building technologies in relation to performance and cost expectations, and to develop
realistic pricing before incurring the full cost of final design and working drawings. In either case, the selection of a builder typically
begins with a visit to the yard to tour the facilities and meet the team working on the
project. On-going discussions relating to design, style, performance and budget
expectations soon provide detailed specifications, and full project costing is confirmed.
A full-scale mock-up is constructed so the owner can experience first-hand the boat's
spatial relationships and configurations. Even with today's sophisticated technology, this
hands-on, walk-through step quickly converts the dream to reality.
Final detailed drawings and specifications are created
once the mock-up stage is complete. The hull and deck are built, tanks, electrical systems
and power installed, and the joinery begun. Interior finishes are confirmed and
coordinated. Sea-trials are conducted and final adjustments made. Lyman-Morse craftsman
consult with the owners throughout all phases of construction. It is this attention to
detail customers particularly appreciate and insures the highest level of satisfaction. We
encourage you to contact us in order to figure out how to
best tailor a boat to you.
