We have teamed up with Sparkman & Stephens to develop another exciting new concept.  The Seguin is a sailing yacht for sailors desiring a yacht designed, built and finished to higher standards than those commonly offered by production boat manufacturers. Gracious overhangs, a timeless sheer line and a well-proportioned house give the Seguin an enduring beauty while a modern underbody, appendages and state of the art construction provide outstanding performance. The Seguin 58 is available in several customizable configurations: an Aft Cockpit pictured above, a Pilothouse Version or a Center Cockpit with Raised Salon and an alternative Aft Cabin arrangement. Each will be constructed using the SCRIMP process to assure maximum integrity, weight-savings, and strength.

Background

In 1980 Lyman-Morse teamed up with Sparkman & Stephens, an industry leader in yacht design for over 70 years to introduce the successful Seguin 44 series.  Using a common hull mold, each yacht was unique and customized for its owner. A total of 15 of these renowned yachts were built. The new Seguin 58 follows the same philosophy as the original series.

Objectives

The first and foremost objective in the design and construction of the new Seguin 58 was to create a yacht for comfortable, safe offshore cruising. Recognizing that cruising sailors also appreciate speed and efficiency, the design takes full advantage of modern underwater hull and appendage shapes as well as the latest construction materials and methods. The result is above average performance without sacrificing the seakeeping attributes for which Sparkman & Stephen's designs are renowned. While designed to be able to circle the globe, as several Seguin 44's have (Click Log for Cabot's second circumnavigation.), this design is just as comfortable coastal cruising and day sailing. The deck layout and sail plan are designed to be handled shorthanded on long and short hauls. The Seguin 58 is a great all around design guaranteed to provide fast and comfortable sailing and cruising.

Flexibility

Unlike production boats, the Seguin 58 is a completely custom yacht within the basic hull. This allows tremendous flexibility in meeting unique requirements with respect to deckhouse styling, accommodation layout, interior finish, equipment, rig and draft. For example, if one of the proposed deck and arrangement plans do not meet the owner's objectives, Sparkman & Stephens will work to develop the right options while all the time guaranteeing the owner complete assurance of the quality craftsmanship from Lyman Morse and approval of our full sized interior mockup prior to actual construction.

Economy

All Seguin 58's use the same hull mold and proven hull design. Similar hull construction results in construction efficiency. This results in substantial savings in the cost of the design and production compared to a similar sized custom yacht. You get a custom yacht for a less than a custom price.
