We have built some great boats with Ward Setzer and the Setzer Design Group -- WOMBAT, MAGPIE, ACADIA. Ward has now been working on a new design that certainly could equal all those in a little smaller package.  His new 66 has contemporary lines mixed with just the right amount of classic look to draw attention from all lookers. With an 18 knot honest cruise, she will be comfortable and fuel efficient. To see more about Setzer Design Group, click here.  Please contact either Ward or JB at Lyman-Morse for more details on this great, new design.

During the course of working with Doug Zurn on the Jones' 62 powerboat, MAD MAX, we have talked a lot about speed and lightweight building materials.  Doug has applied this concept to what, on first glance, looks like a heavy, world-wide cruiser, when in fact it is a lightweight, fast, but very comfortable platform for sailing around the world.  In many heavy cruisers, the thought is to overbuild so you can withstand anything.  The more current thinking is: Build it strong and fast so you are able to get out of harms way.  Doug has accomplished this with his new design.  This 65 offshore sloop is designed for speed, yet offers accommodations you might expect on a heavy displacement cruising yacht. There's plenty of room to stretch out after a great day of blue water cruising.

Comments from designer Dieter Empacker: If you think this design looks familiar, you are right. The owner wanted his new design to reflect the classic look of his present yacht. This 63' center cockpit cruising design by is a perfect example of the combination of performance and cruising comfort. The center cockpit provides both excellent 360 degree visibility as well as a spacious interior. The owner's and guest's staterooms, aft and forward, are separated by a large common area. There is easy access out of the aft stateroom to the lazarette to service the generator and other equipment, and the large forepeak is every captain's dream -- a workroom.

New  82' CATAMARAN "ROCKETEER"

We are in the preliminary stages on a fantastic, new, catamaran project from Nigel Irens, the British designer, who had the huge success with Ellen McArthur's single-handed, 27,000 mile dash around the globe in a record-breaking 71 days. This very fast and exciting, new 82' design will have plenty of the comforts the veteran catamaran owner has on his current 56', but the longer length and layout options will allow for more globe trotting ability. She will be a great project and we can't wait for the sea trials! Watch for more details and pictures.

Charlie Laphen came to us as a sailor owning a Little Harbor 51 Pilothouse. He was ready to make the switch to pure power to be able to cruise longer distances in shorter periods of time. We have worked closely with Ward Setzer to create a boat which we feel will not only be fantastic looking, but will also run very cleanly. We will be using the Janicki molding system again so further boats in the series will be easy to produce. The custom interior will be mahogany with many fine details which will truly set her apart from the standard production offerings of today. We really look forward to working with Charlie and Janice who are both experienced boaters!
