60 Cruising Catamaran
We
have been commissioned, through an old friend and yacht broker, Bob
Rodgers of Rodgers Yacht Sales in Noank, CT, to build a 60' Morrelli and
Melvin of Huntington Beach, CA. The cat will be set up for family
cruising, but she will also be awesomely fast! We have been
directed to keep her as light and nimble as possible which has become
the norm here. We are currently doing the final testing to
determine whether to build the hull with pre-preg or SCRIMP infusion
methods, either of which would utilize advanced composites such as
carbon fiber, Kevlar and E-glass. The owners have just completed
the mockup review process in which many changes were made which once
again proves what an important tool the mockup is in building a custom
boat. She will have a modern interior and straight engine drives.
We are really looking forward to screaming around Penobscot Bay on the
sea trials!!!!

New 54
Custom Jet Express Cruiser
About a year after launching
ANNIE ROSE, our Mark
Fitzgerald designed 38' jetboat, Chip Williams told me that his plan was
to be in a bigger boat before he turned 60. Thinking he was in his late
40's, I figured this was a good plan - keep ANNIE ROSE for another 8-10
years and then move up. Well, I soon found out that Chip will be 60
much sooner than I had anticipated. So, we have finished the mockup for
his new Hunt design 54' jetboat and are hot on having the molds carved
by Janicki Machine. The new boat will be fast with 37 knot top-end and
33 knot cruise powered by twin Caterpillar C18s coupled with Hamilton
HJ403 water-jets. She will have an added stateroom and head as well as a
much larger salon. We will be working with Chip and Annie again with
the mahogany theme they like so well, but this time they will have a
much more modern look to the entire interior. One of her most
interesting features will be for dinghy storage in a full tender garage
with a push button launching system which will extend out over the
jets. Please keep an eye on this boat as she takes shape!

New Ullberg
65 Express Sportfish
In
our continual quest to do hot, new boats, we have recently signed on an
exciting 65 express sportfish. This is pretty long for an
express, but wow will she be fast!!! Naval
architect, Robert Ullberg, Ullberg
Yacht Design Inc., Winter Park, FL has been working
with Ring Power Corporation on this new concept for many months. Ring
Power is the Caterpillar distributor for northern Florida and one of the
largest Caterpillar equipment dealers in the Southeastern United States.
We are enthusiastic about working with Robert and Ring Power to create a
clean, fast and beautiful, new sportfish design. Of course she
will have Cat's -- big ones! A pair of turbocharged, high
performance 12 cylinder C32 Acerts will give her a top end of 46 knots.
The interior will be relatively classic using mahogany and lightweight
fabric panels. She will have crew accommodations for 4 and will be
fitted out with a large salon galley. We have completed the mockup and
the molds are now in process. Please watch the site for new
pictures and information on this very cool design.

New 42 Motor Cruiser
Ken Sawyer has worked with us now for several years. The
initial projects were large refits: first a Toshiba 40 and then one of
our Seguin 46's. The success of both projects led us to build
FAIRWEATHER, the first in
our latest Seguin Series. Along the way, we have been working on
Ken’s houses to develop and illustrate his yarchitecture designs. Yarchitecture is Ken’s term for his design philosophies he is
incorporating
into his home. We build his concepts
into his houses (both on Kiawah Island, South Carolina and in Cushing,
Maine), so he can showcase and sell his yarchitecture to others.
This newest project – LIONHEART’S CONCERTO - brings another member to
the team: a Yamaha Piano. Featured in this beautiful Bob Perry
designed 42 is a full-sounding Yamaha piano which will be tied into the
boat's sound system for the total music package. How many boats of
42' feature a Yamaha piano? Bob Perry's hull has been fully tank tested
and fined tuned (no pun intended). The hull is extremely efficient
and is expected to be able to cruise at 20 knots using only a single
225hp conventional drive system. We are going to be using Janicki molds giving this project
a multiple boat capability. Please stay in touch and watch
LIONHEART’S CONCERTO come alive.

Pierce 31 Jet RumRunner
Jeff
and Meg Pierce are returning to us for another classic looking boat in
the vein of the rumrunners of old. While their first boat built with us,
COMET, has been a huge success for
their use on the Cape, the new boat will be heading to the west coast of
Florida for picnics and short junkets. Aluminum-built, the 31' open
center consol will have plenty of teak and varnished wood on her as
well. She will be powered by a 422 hp Volvo D6-435 diesel connected to a
Hamilton 292 Jet for an estimated speed of 34 knots.
Dieter
Empacher is drawing her as he did with their companion
commuter express launch COMET. Jeff's company, Pierce Aluminum, will be
supplying all the water jet cut aluminum plate for this project which
makes the layout so much easier. The aluminum hull construction phase
will be the third done completely by Lyman-Morse at our
metal fabrication facility just a short
distance from our main yard. We are really looking forward to having fun
with Jeff and Meg on this project. Check back for more pictures as we
begin construction.
