David
and Lucille Paulsen came to us in May 2001 to discuss finishing off
their 36' Northern Bay hull. They had already purchased the basics: hull, deck, engine,
generator and tanks. They wanted their boat to be
finished off in a special way and felt that only a custom builder could
accomplish their goal. They wanted the interior to be a warm cherry. The pilothouse and exterior
was to be a very traditional mahogany finish.
PAUMONAK has a lot of "big boat"
systems in her with full control from her helm station on the starboard
side. A full electronics package, inverter, converter, battery charging
system, wash down systems fore and aft, generator systems and stand
alone 12/110 volt refrigerator and icemaker, plus air conditioning units
forward and in the pilothouse area make her very comfortable. Her hull
is painted flag blue and the decks are white.
Accommodations
include a V-berth forward with head and shower to starboard. The galley,
boasting Corian® counters and a three burner stove with oven is to
port. The soft overheads make her run quietly and there is a
generous use of insulation as well. She is designed to run at 24 knots
with the Volvo 430 engine.
The Paulsens, who live in
Long Island, made frequent visits to our shop and they truly enjoyed
building a custom boat. We launched PAUMONAK early 2002 as planned and
ready to run.
