launched COMET in October, 2002.
This
elegant 42' Commuter Express Launch with a 1920s heritage was commissioned by Jeff Pierce who wanted the sophisticated design from Dieter
Empacher to have a lightweight hull built of aluminum. As the
owner of Pierce Aluminum, he knows the advantages. She is powered
by twin Yanmar 370 hp diesels with a pair of Hamilton 291 water jets
which generate enough thrust to keep her rushing along at a top speed of 30
knots. She is perfect for commuting to fashionable waterfront getaways
in Maine or elsewhere. Her comfortable interior
is custom crafted of carefully selected ribboned
mahogany in traditional "Herreshoff" style and finished off
with an exterior in teak. Her hull and weather decks were fabricated at
Winninghoff Boats. COMET is another
fine example of our diversification which we feel is essential to being a
custom boat builder. |
