We always strive to ensure that in every area of the boat we are exceeding what the customer can find in a production boat. Relationships with our customers continue for many years as we service and store many of the boats we build in our service yard. We feel that the long term friendship we build with each customer to be an important part to the custom process. We were awarded the ABBRA award for the best overall yard in the U.S. for boatbuilding and service in 2001.
Our base is a fiberglass medium. However, we also worked in wood and aluminum, but primarily fiberglass with a lot of detailing in wood and specialty veneers. Our systems work - electrical, mechanical, plumbing - are some of the best found which is extremely important in every boat we build. I have always felt we have to be right at the leading edge of the curve in all facets to be able to deliver a product which is clearly unique and therefore worth the time, energy and commitment it takes to build a boat from scratch.
Recent Custom Construction Magpie This 77' Ward Setzer design is an unusual blend of old and new. She is striking underway and the mahogany interior has the highest level of finish. Cored bulkheads, honeycomb granite countertops and very light cored panels everywhere allowed us to build a yacht loaded with systems that floated right on her lines and easily achieved target speeds over 30 knots. Amelia³ The 63' custom is a product of careful attention to detail that has produced a yacht of extraordinary quality. From her stainless steel stem to her laminated teak varnished stern rail, she is a custom built sailing yacht with over 35,000 hours of craftsmanship at Lyman Morse and 2,300 hours of design from Fontaine Design Group in addition to countless hours of research, planning and development by the owner. Comet An elegant 42' Commuter Express Launch with 1920s heritage was commissioned by Jeff Pierce who wanted the sophisticated design from Dieter Empacher to have a lightweight hull built of aluminum. As owner of Pierce Aluminum, he knew the advantages. Twin Yanmar 370 hp diesels with a pair of Hamilton 291 water jets generate enough thrust to keep her rushing along at a top speed of 30 knots. Her comfortable interior is custom crafted of carefully selected mahogany in traditional "Herreshoff" style and finished off with an exterior in teak. New Custom Projects Maine Island 46 A new fast, sleek powerboat from well-known designer Doug Zurn. Seguin 58 We are working with Sparkman & Stephens on a concept modeled after our original Seguin 44 series. The current market indicates a strong desire for high quality semi-custom sailboats.
