NO SLIP III was launched in November of '95 and is the fourth boat from this mold. All four boats have been distinctly different in the custom tradition of Lyman-Morse. This launching by Lyman-Morse was commissioned by an ex-sailboat owner from South Carolina so he and his wife could cruise in greater luxury with a limited time schedule.
Layout and DesignThe hull and interior was designed by C Raymond Hunt & Assoc. with a deadrise of 21 degrees aft and 26 degrees amidship. She has the normal smooth ride of the Hunt designs and although previous boats from the same mold have attained speeds of thirty knots with twin MAN @550 HP this owner opted for a more economical and conservative performance of 18 - 20 knots using 435 HP 3208TA Caterpillars. NO SLIP III was designed at 42,000 pounds light load, but was launched at 39,000 pounds. Great attention has been paid to a very high standard of soundproofing engineered by Soundown of Salem Massachusetts. The foam, fiberglass and 2 lb lead is hidden by the white aluminum screening that allows wires to be neatly displayed.
The exhaust systems are exceptionally quiet with both the main engines and generator utilizing waterdrop mufflers that exit through the bottom.
In order to cut down on generator time, a 1200gpd watermaker was used. This combined with a generous 25 gal hot water heater plumbed to the engine gives ample hot and cold water.
The heads use the Vacu-flush toilets for ease of operation and low water use into the holding tanks.
The 20KW generator is more than ample to handle the air conditioning loads and have enough left over to allow free use of all other equipment. The 220 V system is effectively distributed through an attractively custom designed Bass panel. A Trace 3-step charger/3000 Watt inverter combination is used to supply the charging and electrical needs.
The forward and aft cabins are both spacious enough to be the master cabin. The fwd cabin has the unusual combination of a queen size bed and a single berth that is used as a settee allowing the cabin to be used by couples or two single persons. The Aft cabin has a queen sized bed and a beautiful owner designed headpiece. The cabin opens out onto the cockpit deck and there are large portlights that keep .the cabin light and airy. Plenty of cabinetry and well thought out layout allow plenty of storage.
The heads use a combination of Corian and Formica to make the heads both elegant and easy to clean.
The galley has two custom made refrigeration boxes using holdover plates tied to a Grunert 110 system. The interior of the boxes is laid out by and for the owners. A Force 10 three burner stove with oven is used with a microwave overhead. The galley is open to the main saloon in order for the cook to be able to be part of the general conversation.
The main saloon has a helm with complete instrumentation on the starboard side and a settee area on the port with a drop down table. Custom built settees with plenty of storage underneath was carefully designed by the owners for their use.
NO SLIP III continues the line of very high quality yachts from Lyman - Morse Boatbuilding. The custom approach and ability to work carefully with each owner produces a yacht of the highest quality. The juggling of tasteful details with top quality craftsmanship and well planned engineering make this vessel among the best built anywhere.
