KISMET, formerly BARRA is an extraordinary example of the Morris 48. She was built with an extremely high level of detail customization and thoughtfulness. She has already completed one round trip from the US to Europe. She is also equally at home cruising the coast. She is incredibly fast but yet has every amenity needed to provide her owners and guests with the utmost comfort.
She has been serviced and stored by Lyman-Morse for many years and Team Lyman-Morse was pleased to continue the work for her new owners as they make her their own and prep her for a fun winter of racing and cruising in the Caribbean.
11/04/2013 Kismet, Morris 48. Final prep before they head south tomorrow.
Kismet, Morris 48 - complete with new Awlgrip job - Aristo Blue and new bottom paint! Sanded with 800 grit sand paper - that bottom is smooth and fast!
Even though Barra is now Kismet, she will still be cared for by her first family - Stuart MacNeil son of the Kismet's former owner oversaw the work to get Kismet delivery and race course ready.
Fast boats always have smooth fast bottoms. Kismet's was sanded and fared with 800 grit sandpaper. One of the guys in the yard said it was so smooth you could shave in the hull's reflection. This new perfection with a new hull color of Awlgrip's Aristo Blue is gorgeous.
Other exterior work included gel coat finish work on chips. All systems were checked. A new sling for the dinghy was built. Rigging was tuned and some new halyards and sheets were installed. Trevor Reiff, our man in electronics, updated all software and gave the owners a run through on the capabilities.
We hope the fishing is good on the way south so they can enjoy their new propane grill!
We wish her a happy and a silver lined winter racing scene!
